ALG Connect Weather Alert: Early-Season Snowstorm

Early-Season Snowstorm to Spread From Central Plains into the Midwest through Halloween

An early-season snowstorm has spread into the Plains and Midwest after bringing several inches of snow to the Rockies earlier in the week. An area of low pressure is tapping into that cold air and producing a stripe of snowfall from the Plains to the Midwest. Scattered areas of snowfall are ongoing this morning from Colorado to northern Illinois. Slushy accumulations of snow could affect the morning commute in the Chicago metro area.

An area from the Colorado High Plains and the Texas Panhandle northeastward through Kansas, southern Nebraska, northern Missouri, southern Iowa and northern Illinois could see light to moderate snowfall during the daytime. Overnight, areas from eastern Kansas and northern and western Missouri to southeast Iowa, western and northern Illinois, southern Wisconsin and northern Lower Michigan could see snow or a rain-and-snow mix. Additional accumulations farther to the east in the Midwest will be light to locally moderate through Thursday, from parts of Kansas and southern Nebraska to northern Missouri, southern Iowa, northern Illinois, southern Wisconsin and western and northern Lower Michigan.
