Winter Storm Shuts Down Interstates, Hundreds of Flights Canceled

Winter Storm Iggy has made for dangerous travel Wednesday in parts of Colorado, Kansas, and Nebraska. An icy pileup involving more than 20 vehicles shut down interstate 70 in eastern Colorado Wednesday, there were no immediate reports of injuries. Elsewhere dangerous driving conditions in Denver and other cities as a winter storm dumped multiple inches of snow and plows had to help get cars off the roads with numerous highways were closed.

In one case the Colorado state patrol vehicle was smashed while the officer was responding to a crash. Denver International Airport had hundreds of flights that were canceled or delayed because of the storm.

Kansas had a truck flip multiple times, thankfully no one was injured in the incident.  More than 300 miles of interstate 80 was shut down and the governor advised drivers statewide to stay home if possible, students in several locations including Omaha and Denver had a snow day or moved to remote learning. Early totals by Wednesday afternoon had at least 8 inches fallen at Denver's airport and locally some spots in Colorado and Nebraska received more than a foot.
