ALG Connect: Snowstorm Will Add to One of The Snowiest Winters on Record in Northern Plains, Upper Midwest

Snowstorm Will Add to One of The Snowiest Winters on Record in Northern Plains, Upper Midwest

A new snowstorm tracking across the country this week will pile on to what's already been one of the snowiest winters on record in parts of the Northern Plains and upper Midwest, including in Minneapolis-St. Paul.

Pulses of upper-level energy from this system will wring out lower-elevation rain and mountain snow in the Northwest and northern Rockies through Wednesday, as shown on the current radar map below. Some light snow will spread into the Northern Plains as well.

It's not until Wednesday night, and especially Thursday and Friday, that this storm will produce its greatest impact, which will be from the Dakotas into the upper Midwest and Great Lakes. Then, it will bring snow to parts of the Northeast by Friday night and Saturday, but details are uncertain.

The storm’s heaviest snow in the central states will impact the Northern Plains and upper Midwest. The greatest chance for moderate accumulations, or at least 6 inches of snowfall, is from the Dakotas and northeast Nebraska into parts of Minnesota, northern Iowa and portions of southern Wisconsin.

We recognize the severe impact that current conditions are having on our customers, and we are committed to restoring service levels as quickly as possible. As a result of these weather issues, the ALG Client Service Team will send daily updates as we monitor the progress and track job level impact.
