Hurricane Francine to Make Landfall in Louisiana Wednesday with Severe Weather

Hurricane Francine has intensified in the Gulf of Mexico ahead of its Louisiana landfall today. Dangerous storm surge, flooding rainfall, damaging winds and tornadoes will impact Louisiana and other parts of the Gulf Coast and South.

Francine is centered about 195 miles southwest of Morgan City, Louisiana, and is moving northeast. Maximum sustained winds were 90 mph as of 7 a.m. CDT, making Francine a strong Category 1 hurricane.

Bands of rain are wrapping into parts of the northern Gulf Coast. The core of Francine's heaviest rain and strongest winds are approaching the southern Louisiana coast. Expect conditions to deteriorate through the day in Louisiana.

Tropical storm warnings cover much of the rest of the northern Gulf Coast from the southwest Louisiana coast to the Alabama-Florida border. The New Orleans metro area is included in a tropical storm warning, meaning sustained winds of at least 39 to 73 mph are expected there later today and tonight.

A hurricane watch is also in effect for the New Orleans metro area, including Lakes Pontchartrain and Maurepas. This means hurricane conditions are possible this afternoon and evening.

We recognize the severe impact that current conditions are having on our customers, and we are committed to restoring service levels as quickly as possible. As a result of these weather issues, the ALG Client Service Team will send daily updates as we monitor the progress and track job level impact.
