Postal Service Implements

Mail Processing Changes for Super Bowl Week

Major mailers and shippers should be prepared for processing delays at the New Orleans Processing and Distribution Center due to Super Bowl LIX being played Sunday, February 9, 2025, at the Caesars Superdome.  Due to the proximity of the New Orleans postal plant to the Superdome, the Postal Service is advising major customers that they should plan on redirecting their volume and to adjust transportation schedules.

The Postal Service is among the entities working closely with the National Football League to implement stringent security measures for the highly anticipated annual championship game. Customers should be advised that some delays are already occurring due to pre-game activities and festivities, and the changes required by the Postal Service for the extraordinary safety measures put in place.

Customers should be prepared for traffic delays. To reduce volume into the area and mitigate delays for postal customers, the Postal Service has communicated alternate drop locations for local mailers and adjusted local transportation patterns for collection volume.

We expect normal operations to resume during the week immediately following the football event.
